An officer is on duty 9-5 seven days and some evenings till eight.
(occasionally the Dog Control Officer may be called out, so it is best to call ahead)

Effective May 1st, 2013, Livingston County Dog Control will now
spay and neuter ALL dogs adopted before they leave the shelter.
Adopted dogs will also receive rabies vaccinations, Distemper/Parvo vaccination, and worming medication, prior to being adopted

The fees are as follows:

Rabies Vaccination: $15.00
Distemper/Parvo Vaccination: $15.00
Panacur: deworming med $10.00
Spay Surgery: $65.00-125.00( this depends on size/weight of dog)
Neuter Surgery: $45.00-75.00 (this depends on size/weight of dog)

So the total fee for adoption will be from
$105 to $165 for females
$85 to $115 for males

This will insure that dogs leaving the shelter won't reproduce and are able to start out on their journey with their new owners protected against any disease.

Please call to check the availability of the dog you are interested in, in case it has already been adopted. If your dog is missing, please visit the Dog Control Facility to see if your dog is with us. For more info, please contact a Dog Control Officer at the above phone number.

Please be advised that ALL dogs, whether on or off the owner's premises, MUST be licensed. Licenses are available at your town clerk where you will be given a bright, shiny tag for your pooch to proudly display on it's collar.

We got Sunshine on a cloudy day
Sunshine was picked up on State St.
in the Hamlet of Dalton on April 11th
and it was a cloudy day.
What a sweet chow/husky mix this girl is
yes she is older, but other than walking a little slow she seems to be healthy.
Sunshine likes the company of dogs and people.
We would recommend that she be in a household with children
10yrs. and older.
Dog Control would like to remind all dog owners that in the State of New York, all dogs 4 months and older, whether on or off the owner's premises, MUST be licensed. Licenses are available from your town clerk.
