Communications E911
The Livingston County Sheriff's Office can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week by calling (585) 243-7100 or in an emergency by calling 911 via telephone,
cellular, or T.D.D.
Each Dispatcher has been trained to take your call, identify what type of emergency
response you may need and to dispatch the appropriate agencies in a timely fashion.
WHEN CALLING 911 - HELP US HELP YOU
1. GIVE Exact street address of the emergency- street number and name If unknown
try to give area road names, intersections and/or any landmarks
2. IDENTIFY problem/ are you in danger/ is it occurring now i.e. - fire, medical,
criminal activity this will lead to important questions by the dispatcher, answer
all questions in as much detail as possible
3. NAMES are not mandated, calls may be anonymous. It helps dispatch if give your
name and phone number where you can be reached in case they need to contact you
for more information and/or to advise you of the outcome of the incident.
4. Do not hang up until the dispatcher advises you to do so
Accidental or hang-up 911 calls
If you accidentally dialed 911 - DO NOT HANG UP, advise the dispatcher of your
mistake. ALL Hang-up calls are investigated either by calling back or by sending
the appropriate response to the address that is displayed on the enhanced 911
screen.
QUESTIONS REGARDING THE 911 CENTER
It you have inquiries about the Communications Division or the 911 Center in Livingston
County you can contact Sgt. Michael Bradley at (585) 243-7145. Tours may be set
up through the Community Policing Division by calling (585) 243-7921.
WE CAN DISPATCH POLICE from anywhere to anywhere...
The Livingston County 911 Center has the ability to dispatch the Sheriff's Department,
New York State Police, Avon, Caledonia, Geneseo, Mt. Morris, Nunda and Dansville
Police departments along with the New York State Park Police and the State University
Police at SUNY Geneseo. The Livingston County 911 Center is interfaced with a
pubic safety answering point that can immediately transfer an out of county call
to the correct county for emergency service dispatch. If someone reporting an
out of county call receives the Livingston County 911 Center the Dispatcher can
be turn it over to the correct county as long as you can give a location.
WE CAN DISPATCH FIRE DEPARTMENTS and AMBULANCE SERVICES to anywhere
The Livingston County 911 Center can dispatch fire and/or ambulance to wherever
the emergency is in Livingston County or make sure that the proper Dispatch Center
is notified to send help if out of county.
